A gritty, unflinching story of endless ambition an the sacrifices and enduring faith that it takes to achieve your dreams.
At ten years old, Evan Alderson squeezes through a fence at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with a cherry pie and impossible dreams. Growing up poor in Speedway, Indiana, racing isn't just a hobby, it's salvation, identity, the promise that talent can overcome poverty and a missing father.
For forty years, Evan chases the Bricks.
He fails to qualify in 1978. Leads the 1979 Indianapolis 500 with five laps to go, then crashes—throwing away certain victory. Devastated, he flees to Europe, spending three decades in Formula 2 and Formula 1, learning that discipline matters more than speed.
In 2007, at age fifty-one, Evan returns to Indianapolis, not as the driver he wanted to be, but as the team owner he became.
Born for the Bricks is a story about what it costs to chase a dream across four decades. About learning that success isn't always personal glory—sometimes it's about lifting others up. About discovering that the destination was never just winning the race.
It was about who he became along the way.
